Talk to Your Children
As seen in plenty of other places, no post this week. No flight, no folly, no practice notes. Please just talk to the children in your life. Any age, any disability, any of the wide array of students with whom we have the privilege to interact. Be honest where you can — the world is not always safe, not all people are out for their best interest. BUT, many people are there for them and many are trying to make their lives as safe as possible.
Instead of offering thoughts and prayers to adults, ask for the thoughts of the children. Find ways to comfort their fears through internal processing and scenarios for safety. It is, at this point, a lie to say they will always be safe so we must calmly, and wisely prepare them.
